Clinical indication

Diagnosis of myocardial infarction

Result interpretation

The assays are specific for a cardiac isoform that occurs only in myocardium.

The test is very specific and sensitive for myocardial damage.

If 1st hsTnT is > 14 ng/L, 2nd hsTnT is recommended at 3 - 6 hrs later to determine % increase from baseline. Diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction is highly suggestive if any hsTnT shows a value > 14 ng/L and a % increase > 100% from baseline.
