| Result interpretation |
For insulin-mediated hypoglycemia, inappropriately high levels of insulin and C-peptide during hypoglycaemia indicate endogenous hyperinsulinism, while inappropriately high levels of insulin with low C-peptide during hypoglycaemia indicate exogenous hyperinsulinism. Patients with type 1 diabetes would have low C-peptide, while type 2 diabetes would have detectable C-peptide. |
